Biography

1968 : Birth in Paris where he spends his youth and makes his studies. Frenquently goes to Museums and exhibitions with his family. Tours in Italy, Belgium, Spain, Egypt. Annual stays in GB, Provence, Auvergne, cradle of his family.

1984 : At 16 he chooses to be a painter. Works outside of the Art School teaching, mainly acrylic on canvas . Stay in New York and Philadelphy.

1985 : Stay to USA, Atlanta.

1986 : Collective exhibitions in Paris, Aix en Provence, Marseille. Trip in Nederland.
Firts meetings with Bemard Dorival and Olivier Debré. Works in Paris and in Provence where he gets ochres of Roussillon.

1987 : Exhibits at “Big and Youngs of today ”, Paris. Collective exhibitions in Nantes (Médiathèque) and in Montpellier.

1988 : Exhibits at “Bigs and Youngs of today ”, Paris. Meetings with Bemard Dorival. Stay in New-York.

1989 : First personnal exhibitions at the Gallery La Prévôté, Aix-en-Provence, with 24 paintings on canvas. Exhibits at “Young painting,young expression ”, Fondation Nationale des Arts Graphiques et Plastiques, Paris.Travel in north Italy.

1990 : Exhibits at “Big and Youngs of today ”, Paris. Travel in Londres. Works simultaneously :
  - on Nepalese paper, with or without collage, pigments and Indian Ink,
  - on wood, with sand, marble powder and pigments, he engraves and incises the surface.

1991 : Personal exhibition at the Gallery La Tour des Cardinaux (l’lsle-sur-la-Sorgue) with Nepales papers and sand paintings on wood - he is from now permanently exhibited there.
Exhibits at “Big and Youngs of today ”, Paris and at “Young painting, young expression”, Fondation Nationale des Arts Graphiques et Plastiques, where he presents a Face of the World et une Woman Landscape. Meets Olivier Debré.

1992 : Personnal exhibitions at the Gallery La Prévôté, Aix-en-Provence, with, notably, twelve works of the serie Faces of the World . Exhibits at “Big and Youngs of today ”, Paris, a Face of the World .

1993 : Trip in Madrid. Exhibits at “Discoveries” Paris, at the Gallery La Tour des Cardinaux stand.

1994 : Death of Laurent Royer, july, at Paris.

1996 : “Tribute to Laurent Royer”, retrospective exhibition at Avignon, Chapelle Saint-Michel.
A this occasion, release of a book by Actes Sud: “Laurent Royer”. Texts: Marie-Paule Barbut, Maurice Cocagnac, Gèrard Engelbach, Pasquale Gagliardi.

1997 : Donation by Madeleine et René-Marc Royer, parents of the artist, of 35 works, to Musée de Brou, Bourg en Bresse exhibition of the donation from october 3 to november 30.
Edition of a catalog par the museum :“Laurent Royer, donation to the Musée de Brou”. Texts : Olivier Debré, Bernard Dorival, ltzhak Goldberg, Jean-Jacques Lerrant, Marie-Françoise Poiret.

2000 : In january, exhibition at the 6th district city hall of Paris. Edition of a catalog at this occasion: “Laurent Royer” by Marie-José Mondzain.

2002 : Many exhibitions during this year :
- Personal exhibition at the Gallery La Tour des Cardinaux, Marseille (March 14 - April 20)
- Personal exhibition during the XXXth Musical Sommer of Saint-Robert (July 14 - August 16)
- Collective exhibition at the Gallery La Tour des Cardinaux, Marseille (August 1-September 7)

2004 : Galerie d’Art Contemporain AMAC, Chamalières

2007 : "Visage ou portrait ?", Galerie Univer, Paris (Commissaire Itzhak Goldberg)

2009 : Donation of twenty-four works to the Giorgio Cini Foundation . A selection of works is now on show in the luminous spaces of the "Nuova Manica Lunga" (Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore - Venice)

2011 : Donation to the Abbaye de la Prée (Indre), "Pour que l'esprit vive".

2012 : Collective exhibition to the 40th Festival de Saint-Robert, Corrèze.
